BG (ret.) Avigdor Kahalani; Armored Division Commander & war hero-Part II
Please join host Amir Oren for the second of a two-part interview Avigdor Kahalani, one of Israel’s best-known Armor commanders, retired as a Brigadier-General after leading fighting and training on all levels, from a single tank crew to platoon to company to battalion to brigade to division.
Badly wounded in the Six-Day War, when he was decorated for exemplary bravery, he stayed in the Army and played a crucial role in stopping the Syrian onslaught on the Golan Heights in the Yom Kippur war, when his brother and brother-in-law were killed in other battles. Kahalani was awarded the Medal of Valor, Israel’s highest, and wrote about his - and his men’s - fight and lessons learned in “The Heights of Courage” and six other books.
