BG (Ret.) Arie Mizrachi Former Artillery Chief, IDF. Part 2
Please join host Amir Oren for an interview with BG (Ret.) Arie Mizrachi Former Artillery Chief, IDF. When Arie Mizrahi was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces, as an ambitious teen-ager who wished to get his commission ASAP, he was told that the fastest route to a Second Lieutenant’s bar was in the Artillery Corps.
He chose this path to command - even as a boy he marked his future vocation as “a General Officer” - and never looked back. The cannon units he encountered early on were obsolescent and looked down on by Air Force pilots and Army Paratroopers and Armor officers. But Mizrachi felt their equal, at least, and led a younger generation of Artillerymen on an innovative journey into the core of Israel’s military doctrine, culminating in his taking charge if the Corps and presiding over its success in the 1982 Lebanon War. Brigadier-General Mizrachi was offered promotion to Major-General as IDF Logistics Chief, but chose to retire at 41 in order to go into the defense industry and other managerial endeavors.
