He is a member of the select company of IAF fighter pilots with a distinguished record of an “Ace,” having downed at least five enemy planes in dogfights and participating in important airstrikes. He flew A-4, F-4, F-15 and F-16 fighter jets, as well as CH-53 Sea Stallion helicopters. One year after being one of eight F-16 pilots who destroyed Iraq’s Osirak nuclear reactor in June 1981, he led his fleet in an attack on Syrian surface-to-air batteries and evened the SAM-vs-Aircraft score.
