West VS East vis-a-vis Mideast Intricacies – Israel at War
There was a time, not so long ago, when an appeal by the world’s leading powers would reflect a general consensus encompassing not only Washington and London, Berlin and Paris, Tokyo and Ottawa, but also Moscow and Beijing. But no longer.
Now the competition between the US on one hand and China and Russia on the other hand threatens to flare up into a confrontation before given a chance to de-escalate into possible cooperation. Not a single corner of the globe is free of this fact’s implication, however the Middle East is most prominent, with the Israel-Palestine issue, Gaza war, Lebanon, Iran and Syria all constant bones of contention between the Great Powers.
Just how explosive is this situation in the summer of 2024? Joining us for the analysis are:
- Host : Jonathan Hessen : Senior Fellow, Hudson Institute
- Editor at Large : Amir Oren : Host of Watchmen Talk and Powers in Play
- Prof. Russell Berman : Senior Advisor at the US State Dept and Director of the Middle East project, Hoover Institute
