Conflicting signals have been coming out of Vienna over the ladt couple of weeks, leading to the disappointing conclusion that a year into the administration of Joe Biden, who promised to undo Donald Trump’s withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran, the parties are closer to an agreement on a renewed formula but still have to bridge the gaps between them. Biden’s attention is focused elsewhere, especially on the Russia-Ukraine tension, and his spokespeople have taken to talking about measuring the deadline for Vienna not by the calendar but rather by quantities of enriched Uranium produced and stocked by Iran. In Israel, defense officials briefing their political superiors have adopted a tone of relative approval, supporting even a flawed deal over no deal. What are we to make of these clues?
To analyze this we are joined from central Israel by Col. (Ret.) Dr. Eran Lerman, Co-host TV7 Middle East Review, Powers-in-Play Panelist, JISS VP and Editor in Chief of the Jerusalem Strategic Tribune. Also joining us from another location in Central Israel is Brigadier General (Res.) Yossi Kuperwasser – Project Director on Middle East Developments, Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs
and Amir Oren, TV7 Editor at Large, Host of TV7 Watchmen Talk.
