Palestinian's draft resolution to the UN Security Council
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s announcement of submitting a draft resolution to the UN Security Council, to end the Israeli occupation in territories Palestinians claim will be part of a future Palestinian State, raised new challenges in an already complicated reality.
The Palestinian top leader sparked anger in Israel and the US last month when he told the UN General Assembly there was no value in peace talks with Israel unless the goal is ending its occupation of the so-called Palestinian territories within a “firm timetable”, and accused the Jewish state of committing war crimes during the last round of fighting in the Gaza Strip. Today we will discuss the new implications of the Palestinian approach to the decades-old conflict.
Guests Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Paul Hirschson and Professor Hillel Frisch, an expert on Palestinian and Islamic politics from the Begin-Sadat center for strategic studies.
