Bi-national boats beyond Bab-el-Mandeb. This could be a fitting headline for a groundbreaking, or in this case perhaps sea-breaking, activity undertaken in March but revealed only about a week ago. The Israel Navy and the U.S. Fifth Fleet linked up far away from Israel’s borders, more than two thousand kilometers South of Eilat, as vessels of these friendly navies performed mutually beneficial duties in a key maritime front between Asia - or more to the point, Arabia - and the continent of Africa. What does this further upgrade in the Israeli-American naval relationship mean for both parties and their posture against the common maritime threat emanating from the Islamic Republic of Iran?
