Latest developments on the Israeli-Palestinian flareup
On the 30th of March, Palestinian activists in Gaza announced a six-week campaign that sought to compose protests near the enclave's border with Israel. The series of protests were meant to culminate with a "Great March of Return" of some one million Palestinians on the 15th of May, during the commemoration of the 'Nakba Day', when Palestinians mark Israel's inception as a catastrophe; demanding to return to lands they claim to have owned prior to the establishment of the state of Israel. Nevertheless, similar to protests across the volatile Middle East, allegations surfaced of Hamas' use of the civilian protests to further the Islamist organization's aspiration of annihilating Israel.
