The Chinese Ambassador to Israel, Du Wei, was found dead in his residence last week, and while there was seemingly no foul play involved, the timing was curious. Ambassador Du only arrived in Israel three months ago, at the height of the corona contagion’s outbreak in his country, and his death came merely a couple of days after a visit to Jerusalem by U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, whose purpose was partly to urge Israel to avoid trade arrangements with Beijing which could threaten American national security. What are China’s interests and ambitions in the Middle East and how does Israel manoeuvre between these global giants?
Guests Mr. Robert Silverman, Lecturer at Shalem College and Former President of the American Foreign Service Association, and Colonel Reuven Ben-Shalom, cross-cultural strategist and associate at the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism. Analyst Amir Oren. Host Jonathan Hessen.
