Iran’s nuclear progress

Do political considerations threaten IAEA scrutiny? The International Atomic Energy Agency, or at least its leadership if not necessarily its member-states, has in recent weeks adopted a conciliatory tone in its public approach toward Iran. The IAEA’s Director-General, Ambassador Rafael Grossi, is going out of his way to accept Iran’s explanations of suspicious military Nuclear activities as “plausible”. There is a questionable gap between what happens in the Uranium enrichment domain, where (according to the intelligence community) Iran has already enough for two bombs should it choose to break out and produce them, and in re-activation of monitoring equipment, where the host country is stalling rather than installing, and the willingness of the IAEA to take Tehran’s excuses at face value. So is the accounting technical, or political?
