The Iranian leadership seems to have adopted a cautious attitude to the current crisis in the Middle East. It has not given up on any of its hegemonic ambitions or its efforts to undermine Israel and the United States; however, it has left the actual clashes to its various proxies and signaled that it does not seek direct military confrontation.
Could this be because the Iranians are attempting to stay under the radar as they step up their nuclear program, which may in turn lead to a preemptive strike if it was established that they have crossed the threshold leading to weaponization?
