Iran's nuclear ambitions - between war & diplomacy
In about two weeks’ time an ultimatum will be tested in the tense American-Iranian relationship. Unusually, it was issued in Tehran and directed at Washington, rather than the other way around. The Iranian Parliament has threatened, by legislation, that if by the Twenty First sanctions re-imposed on Iran by the Trump administration are not lifted, limits on Iranian non-compliance with its obligations under the 2015 will be broken. While this is only one tactic by one Iranian body, disputed by others, it nevertheless underscores the escalstory nature of friction left over from the Trump era, while Biden and his associates express their wish to renew the deal and improve on it, but have yet to take concrete steps in this direction. So is the clock ominously ticking, or is it just another phase in a turbulent relationship?
