Europe’s Election and Implications for the Mideast : Israel at War
The 720 members of the European Parliament have been elected over the past several days. This is six times the number of Knesset members in Israel, and the impact on the ability of reaching a consensus is comparable.
With the new make-up of the EU’s legislative now apparent, jockeying is now expected in the contest for the Commission’s President, a position held over the last five years by Germany’s Ursula von der Leyen.
What are the forces shaping the new institutions of the EU, who will be the major figures in foreign policy and security, and are the implications for the Mideast already evident?
To help us get to the bottom of this we are joined by :
- Host : Jonathan Hessen : Senior Fellow, Hudson Institute
- Editor at Large : Amir Oren : Host of Watchmen Talk and Powers in Play
- GEN (Ret.) Klaus Naumann : former Bundeswehr Chief of General Staff and Chairman of the NATO Military Committee
- Prof. Uri Rosenthal : former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands
