A winter storm of rare intensity hit the Middle East in December 2013. It snowed for three days in Jerusalem and the city, not being used to the snow, was totally paralyzed.
Tens of thousands of homes were without electricity for days and cars stopped in the middle of intersections with their summer tires. We went to Yad Hashmona
to see how its' citizens survived the storm. The village was without electricity and heating for a few days.
The rain and water falling into Jerusalem rushes down into the desert. 15 km to the east of Jerusalem is the Judaean desert. There was no sign of snow in the desert except in the rivers and springs running through it.
